ESTRÉS, AFRONTAMIENTO, EMOCIONES Y ADHERENCIA TERAPÉUTICA EN PACIENTES DIABÉTICOS

Resumen

Este estudio tuvo por objetivo corroborar, en el contexto de la adherencia terapéutica, las relaciones establecidas teóricamente entre estrés, afrontamiento y emociones; así como identificar la posible relación de dichas variables con la adherencia terapéutica de pacientes diabéticos, para ello se aplicó el Cuestionario de Estrés, Emociones y Afrontamiento y la Versión Actualizada de la Escala de Adherencia Terapéutica a 309 pacientes diabéticos. Los resultados permiten confirmar las relaciones teóricas establecidas; además de indicar que el estrés y las emociones se relacionan de manera baja y positiva con la adherencia terapéutica, presentando distintas combinaciones acorde al nivel de atención médica y que los puntajes de adherencia terapéutica son estadísticamente distintos en función del nivel de atención médica y el estilo de afrontamiento empleado, lo cual permite afirmar que cada nivel de atención médica tiene particularidades que involucran no sólo aspectos médicos y biológicos, sino también aspectos psicológicos.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to corroborate, in the context of therapeutic adherence, the theoretically established relationships between stress, coping and emotions; as well as identify the possible relationship of these variables with the therapeutic adherence of diabetic patients, for this the Stress, Emotions and Coping Questionnaire and the Updated Version of The Therapeutic Adherence Scale were applied to 309 diabetic patients. The results confirm the established theoretical relationships; besides indicating that stress and emotions are related in a low and positive way with therapeutic adherence, presenting different combinations according to the level of medical attention and that the scores of therapeutic adherence are statistically different depending on the level of medical care and style of employee coping, which allows to affirm that each level of medical attention has particularities that involve not only medical and biological aspects, but also psychological aspects.
