COMPORTAMIENTOS DE RIESGO EN ADOLESCENTES INSTITUCIONALIZADOS: ESTIMACIÓN DE LA PROBABILIDAD POR GÉNERO

Resumen

El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar comportamientos de riesgo y estimar su probabilidad de ocurrencia (OR) en función del género, en adolescentes de una institución de asistencia social. Participaron 87 hombres y mujeres adolescentes, de 12 a 16 años de una institución de asistencia social que apoya a menores en situación de calle, abandono y pobreza. Se realizó un estudio de campo, transversal, comparativo. Se aplicó un asentimiento y consentimiento informado, una cédula sociodemográfica y reactivos de la Escalas de Afrontamiento para Adolescentes (ACS) y del Youth Self Report (YSR). Los datos indican diferencias por género, con mayor probabilidad de que los hombres presenten prácticas antisociales y consumo de sustancias, mientras las mujeres presentaron mayor frecuencia en conductas de riesgo alimentarias, pero sin diferencias significativas. Estos resultados pueden orientar intervención indicada para las diferentes conductas de riesgo de acuerdo al género.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to identify risk behaviors, calculating the probability (OR) by gender, in teenagers from a welfare institution. 87 boys and girls participated, aged 12 to 16 years from a social assistance institution that supports children in situation of street, neglect and poverty; selected by a convenience sampling. A comparative cross-sectional study was carried-out. An informed assent and consent, a sociodemographic schedule, items from the Adolescent Coping Scale (ACS) and the Youth Self Report (YSR) were applied. Data showed gender differences, with boys scoring higher in antisocial practices, and substance abuse, whereas girls showed high prevalence in risky behaviors related with eating disorders, however, however, the differences were not significant. A specific preventive intervention for risky behaviors could be designed based on this data according to gender.
