Soledad en el adulto mayor: Análisis de concepto

Resumen

Introducción: La soledad es una condición que en alguna etapa de la vida los
individuos tienen contacto con ella, en el adulto mayor esta vivencia de soledad no es
gratificante, se hace necesario profundizar en este tema en la sociedad actual por las
repercusiones negativas que puede ocasionar a este grupo etario. Objetivo: Explorar el
concepto de soledad en los adultos mayores partiendo del análisis de bibliografía científica
disponible para establecer sus atributos esenciales. Método: Análisis de concepto descrito por
Walker y Avant. Resultados: La soledad en el adulto mayor se presenta habitualmente de
forma involuntaria, causa sentimientos de aflicción, pues es una condición no gratificante, que
puede afectar el área emocional, repercutir en la salud, bienestar y calidad de vida del adulto
mayor. Conclusiones: Los resultados clarifican el significado del concepto “soledad en el
adulto mayor” para desarrollar e implementar estrategias de intervención que orienten el
cuidado de enfermería.

Abstract

Introduction: Loneliness is a condition that individuals have contact with at some
stage of life, in the older adult this experience of loneliness is not rewarding, it is necessary to
delve into this issue in today's society due to the negative repercussions that it can cause this
age group.

Objective: To explore the concept of loneliness in older adults based on the analysis of
the scientific literature available to establish its essential attributes. Method: Concept analysis
described by Walker and Avant. Results: Loneliness in the older adult usually occurs
involuntarily, causes feelings of distress, as it is an unrewarding condition, which can affect
the emotional area, affect the health, well-being and quality of life of the older adult.
Conclusions: The results clarify the meaning of the concept "loneliness in the older adult" to
develop and implement intervention strategies that guide nursing care.
